Description
The CNA program consists of classroom and clinical experiences. The student will be trained in providing basic care to patients in extended care facilities, hospitals. CNAs provide bedside care as well as assist nurses with many different health care related duties. Primarily they are there to assist the patients in everything they need. They can perform some tests and must take care of the patient's hygiene at all times. CNAs are known to be the patient's liaison. Some basic skills needed by a CNA are: basic care for patients, understanding of medical terminology, following proper safety regulations, observing patients, reporting incidents regarding patients, attending to some patient requirements, needs or requests. Upon completion of the course, students are eligible to sit for the Indiana State Department of Health's Certified Nursing Assistant exam.
Prerequisites
Must be 16 years of age or older. Must pass the math and English test. Must pass both a physical and drug screen. Students who fail either the drug screen or physical will be responsible for both fees.
